Alcatraz Island, site of the infamous federal prison, is in view and in the distance is the waterfront of downtown San Francisco. The Eagle, originally named the Horst Vessel and built in Germany in 1936, was received as a war reparation payment. The Eagle represents America in many tall ship events, and serves as a primary USCG training vessel. |
